More about The New Potatoes:

Fred Lail, Mary Mondon and Gavin Douglas have been playing Traditional Irish Music for over twenty years. They perform together as ‘The New Potatoes’. Normally playing in pubs, they also play concerts, festivals, weddings, sessions, and just about anywhere else that folks will put up with them! Fred has been playing the fiddle for several decades and has studied with some of the very best Traditional Irish players on the planet- he also teaches, composes tunes, and runs a violin shop.
Mary started playing the violin at an early age. Years later, after meeting her husband Fred in an Irish fiddle class, she picked up the Irish frame drum called the bodhran, then added penny whistle. Her latest instrument is the Irish button accordion, normally called ‘the button box. She also enjoys singing, can pick a little on the guitar to accompany herself, as well as teaching music. Gavin is an ethnomusicologist on the faculty of UNC Greensboro where he has taught since 2002. Trained as a classical guitarist, Douglas also plays a variety of other instruments, including flute and fiddle and is often coaxed into singing traditional songs. He is a strong advocate for traditional acoustic music.  Fred, Mary, and Gavin will bring some life to your party.
